Did an ARB fridge and suspension components last year via Aramex Shop and Ship. Declared value matched the invoice, customs applied 5 percent duty on parts value. No issues. Door to door from US was 12 days.

Absolutely. The Hatta Lakes area has gentle graded tracks perfect for first timers. Great entry point. From there you can build up to more technical terrain as confidence grows.

    4WD Authority

Those ridge tracks are special. Also recommend the old route that connects toward the Oman border area ; obviously do not cross but the approach track is dramatic. Check for any restricted zones first.

Safari snorkels are the benchmark. Direct fit on the 150, good quality RAM head, zero issues in 4 years on my previous Prado. ARB is also solid. Avoid cheap clones ; the silicone joints fail in UAE heat.

Never go below 12psi on standard AT tyres without bead locks. Risk of debeading is real. Changing a tyre in the Liwa heat is genuinely dangerous ; take it seriously.

    4WD Authority

Important UAE note: heat soak builds tyre pressure fast. Air down at 7am in winter and you are fine. In summer the pressure build can be 4 to 5psi in an hour. Check regularly and adjust.

265/70/17 all-terrain: highway 36psi, graded track 28psi, soft dunes 16 to 18psi, compacted dunes 20 to 22psi. Starting points only ; adjust for load and truck weight.

Liwa Total is good. The ADNOC in the Liwa Oasis area now has a proper rest area and is well stocked. Beyond that you are self-sufficient territory ; plan accordingly.

Mile Marker is decent but the service network in UAE is limited. If something goes wrong with a Warn you can get it sorted at multiple shops here. Factor that into the decision.

    4WD Authority

What about Mile Marker? Saw them at the last overland expo and the pricing is competitive.

Good to know about Moreeb. What is the fuel situation ; is the Liwa Total still the last reliable fuel before the deep desert?

    4WD Authority

Was there two weeks ago. Moreeb face is in excellent condition, some of the best I have seen in years. The sand is soft and powdery after the summer winds which makes it forgiving for climbs.

Warn is the gold standard. VR EVO 10 is the right size for the 200 in that budget range, comes with synthetic rope as standard now. Worth the price ; will outlast the truck.

Thanks all. Leaning towards 3 inch with Fox 2.0 all round. Will pair with LR UCA to correct the caster angle. Anyone know current pricing at Dubai 4×4 shops for Fox shocks?

Do not go cheap on springs for UAE heat. The heat cycles destroy substandard suspension faster than off-road abuse. OME, Icon, Fox, King ; worth every dirham.

    4WD Authority

Running 3 inch on mine with OME heavy duty springs. On 35s. No daily drive issues at all ; UAE roads are smooth enough that you barely notice it. For serious dunes that extra clearance is worth it.

October might still be hot. November is prime Musandam season. Can we push it a month?

eVisa works fine at Tibat border, make sure it is the tourist type. Give yourself 3-4 days processing time. Will post a full kit list closer to the date.

I am in. Prado 150. Done Musandam twice before, happy to help lead the Oman section. The descent from Jebel Harim is sketchy ; we need experienced drivers up front.

    4WD Authority

Yes, absolutely doable in a stock 150. The main trail is perfect for beginners. The side tracks are more technical but optional. Best first trail in the UAE in my opinion.
