Looking to import King shocks and some ARB gear from the US where pricing is significantly better even after shipping. What has the customs experience been like recently? Any tips on declared value, HS codes, or freight brokers to use? Keen to hear from anyone who has done this in the last 12 months.

Did an ARB fridge and suspension components last year via Aramex Shop and Ship. Declared value matched the invoice, customs applied 5 percent duty on parts value. No issues. Door to door from US was 12 days.

King shocks might attract attention at customs as they are high value items. Make sure your invoice clearly shows automotive aftermarket parts and the correct HS code — 8708.80 for suspension components. Have the supplier itemise the invoice clearly.

Really helpful. Is Shop and Ship cost effective for heavy items? King shocks are about 8kg each and I need four of them.

For heavy items use Aramex or FedEx direct shipment. Shop and Ship gets expensive above 5kg per item. FedEx has been consistently reliable for auto parts in my experience with good tracking.
