Done a 2 inch lift and AT tyre upgrade on my Prado 150. Standard insurance does not seem to cover modified vehicles for off-road incidents. Has anyone navigated this successfully? Do not want to be effectively uninsured every time I go into the desert.

This is a real issue. Most standard UAE auto insurance policies have off-road exclusions written into the fine print. For daily use you are covered but once you are on a desert track you may not be. Read your policy carefully.

Noor Insurance and Orient Insurance have specialist off-road policies. It costs more but you are actually covered when it matters. I have seen serious desert accidents where the standard policy paid nothing.

Is the suspension lift itself an issue with the insurer separate from off-road usage?

Yes, technically modifications need to be declared. Most insurers do not actively check for minor mods but if you have a claim and they find undeclared modifications they can void the policy. Declare everything in writing and get written confirmation.
