The Route
Starting from Asimah village in Ras Al Khaimah, the track winds through narrow canyon passages before crossing a rocky plateau and descending into Wadi Sidr. Total distance is modest — perhaps 25-35km depending on the line chosen — but the driving time is substantial. This is measured-in-hours-per-kilometre terrain.
The Canyon Sections
Both wadis narrow considerably in their upper reaches. Vegetation, overhanging rock faces, and sudden drops make these sections feel far more remote than the map suggests. In dry conditions the rock is grippy and progress is steady. After rain the surfaces become treacherous — never drive this route within 48 hours of significant rainfall.
Difficulty
Hard. The narrow passages leave limited room for error and recovery options are constrained. Experienced drivers with proper setups only. Narrow-width 4x4s have a meaningful advantage in the tightest passages.
