The Huwaylat to Hatta Mountain Gravel Loop is a 30 km easy-rated community drive through the Hajar Mountain foothills connecting the quiet village of Huwaylat to the Hatta Heritage Village area on maintained gravel and light off-road tracks. The route departs from the Hatta Road turn-off and enters the wadi system below Huwaylat via a maintained gravel track that is accessible in 4WD high range for the majority of its length. The terrain consists of wide river gravel corridors, low rock crossings, and gentle hill climbs averaging 8 to 12 percent grade with no technical obstacles. The mid-section of the drive passes through the Hatta Wadi Hub recreational area before looping up a ridge spur at 480 metres for a clear view over the Hatta dam and reservoir. The descent returns via a different gravel track to the meeting point, completing the loop in approximately 3 hours. This is an ideal first mountain drive for new members, families with appropriately equipped vehicles, and anyone wanting to explore Hatta’s off-road trail network at a relaxed pace. High clearance is recommended but not mandatory on the main track. Tyres do not require deflation on this route. Suitable year-round but best between October and April.

This is a easy-difficulty drive covering 270 km in Hatta / Dubai. All drives are marshal-led — you do not need prior off-road experience, but a capable 4WD vehicle with appropriate ground clearance is required.

Any full-time or part-time 4WD with a low-range transfer case and at least 200 mm ground clearance is suitable. Popular vehicles on our drives include the Toyota Land Cruiser (LC70–300 series), Nissan Patrol Y60/Y61, Toyota Prado, and Ford Bronco. Recovery gear is strongly recommended.
