Sweihan Little Liwa Deep Sand Circuit

The Sweihan Little Liwa Deep Sand Circuit is a 40 km hard-rated community drive through the tall dune system north-east of Sweihan, locally known as Little Liwa for its resemblance in dune scale and density to the main Liwa crescent. The route departs from the Sweihan road and enters the dune field immediately, with dune heights ranging from 20 to 45 metres in the deeper interior sections. Unlike the more predictable Lahbab or Big Red dune faces, the Sweihan field features shorter approach distances and sharper crest breaks that reward experienced dune drivers and challenge those still developing their desert technique. Tyre pressures are dropped to 15-18 PSI for the bulk of the route, with compressors running at the mid-circuit rest point. The circuit involves three full dune ridge crossings, four bowl entries, and two extended flat interdune corridors that allow the convoy to regroup and assess vehicle condition before the next technical section. All drivers are expected to run with recovery boards mounted and recovery straps rigged for rapid deployment. Dual recovery vehicles are positioned at the front and rear of the convoy. Sweihan dune temperatures in January remain manageable before 10 AM, making this a good hard-rated option for drivers wanting to build large-dune confidence before Liwa or Moreeb trips.
