The Wadi Showka Riverbed & Mountain Trail is a 32 km moderate community drive through the lower Wadi Showka granite gorge and up into the Hajar Mountain foothills above Khorfakkan. The route begins on the main Khorfakkan Road and drops immediately into the dry riverbed, where loose river-washed boulders and exposed granite slabs require careful tyre placement and steady throttle management. The wadi narrows progressively over the first 8 km, with two technical boulder steps that demand low-range engagement and precise line choice to avoid chassis contact. Beyond the narrows, the track opens onto a broad gravel platform at 380 metres elevation offering clear views south over the Sharjah eastern coast. The mountain section climbs via a maintained gravel road to a saddle at 520 metres before looping back down a parallel descent corridor to the wadi floor. The full loop takes approximately 4 hours including the briefing stop at the meeting point. Tyres should be deflated to 22-24 PSI for the riverbed sections. No camping facilities exist on this route, and the track is unsuitable for vehicles wider than 2.2 metres due to the boulder section. Wadi Showka runs year-round but is best driven between November and March when temperatures in the gorge remain under 30 degrees Celsius.
The AED 50 per-person fee covers full marshal-led convoy support, GPX routing, and on-trail recovery assistance. All participants receive a route debrief and access to the post-drive community report.
