Musandam & Limah Mountain Run

The Musandam & Limah Mountain Run is a technical two-day 360 km expedition traversing the limestone mountain ridges of Oman’s Musandam peninsula. Departing from the Khatmat Malaha border crossing on Route E99, the convoy follows the coastal highway before climbing the unpaved switchbacks up Jebel Harim to 2,087 metres elevation. Drivers will navigate loose shale surfaces, narrow shelf tracks, and tight hairpin bends that require controlled throttle inputs and precise wheel placement. The route drops down the eastern flank along steep canyon corridors toward the isolated coastal village of Limah, offering panoramic views of the Gulf of Oman. Low-range four-wheel drive and sound descent techniques are essential for managing sustained downhill gradients exceeding 15 percent without overheating vehicle brakes. Camp is pitched at a high-altitude plateau where temperatures drop significantly overnight, so participants must pack suitable cold-weather gear and heavy windbreaks. The second day features technical dry riverbed passages and gravel wash runs before returning along the main mountain pass back to the border. Ensure all vehicles undergo complete cooling and brake system checks prior to departure, as remote mountain sections offer zero recovery infrastructure. The optimal season for this mountain expedition runs from November through February when ridge temperatures remain cool and clear.
